Who is Tila Tequila, the reality TV star who attended the 'Heil Trump' party?

June 2024 · 6 minute read

Tila Tequila, a former reality TV star whose fame arguably peaked somewhere around 2007, has been pictured making a Nazi salute at a far-right rally in Washington, held in support of the US President Elect Donald Trump.

The 35-year-old Vietnamese-American, who was born Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen, is a passionate Trump supporter, and has a history of making disturbing, highly offensive statements on her social media accounts.

Speaking at the rally, which was organised by the white supremacist Richard Spencer, Tequila told the Daily Beast that the birth of her daughter in 2014 had inspired her to become more "conservative" in her views.

"I went full circle from the liberal stuff, and all that…I wouldn't want my daughter growing up in that," she said.

"I'm becoming more conservative ever since I became a mother. I wouldn't want porn all over the internet. Law and order, I think that's very important to have. Most people are so used to being all about their 'freedom,' so they becomes these little crybabies. They can't live by laws and rules. Civilization needs to be civilized."

She later posted an image herself making the Nazi salute on her Twitter page, which has subsequently been suspended.

Who is Tila Tequila and why is she famous?

Back in 2007, Tequila, then an aspiring singer and model, was named the most popular person on MySpace. The internet celebrity, who is bisexual, went on to star in a reality dating show named A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila, in which both male and female contestants competed for her affections.

In the December of 2009, she became engaged to the heiress Casey Johnson, who tragically died the following month after failing to take medication for her diabetes.

Tequila later unsuccessfully tried to launch a music career, and achieved unwanted notoriety in 2011 after a sex tape was released without her consent. In 2013, she starred in a separate pornographic video (this one released with her consent).

She reportedly has a history of mental illness and is alleged to have been suicidal in the March of 2012, during which she spent time in rehab.

What happened with Celebrity Big Brother last year?

In August 2015, Tequila was ejected from the 16th series of the UK's Celebrity Big Brother thanks to a 2013 Facebook post in which she sympathised with Adolf Hitler, calling him "a special and sweet kid". The post was accompanied by a fan-made photo-illustration of Tequila, wearing little but a miniskirt and Nazi regalia, standing in front of Auschwitz concentration camp. To Tequila's disgust, Facebook subsequently closed her account, leading her to begin referring to the company as "Jewbook".

CBB broadcasters Channel 5, seemingly unable to access Wikipedia pages, only found out about the post hours after Tequila entered the house. “Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother," the company said in a statement. "The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the programme was untenable."

After the incident, Tequila blamed the post on depression and stated that she is "absolutely 100% not a Nazi supporter".

What other claims has she made on social media?

In the past, Tequila's rambling social media posts have indicated a strong interest in conspiracy theories, and an arguably somewhat less-than-stable grip on reality.

Here are some of her previous allegations and social media posts:

1. The Illuminati

In a bizarre 2012 post on her website (since removed), Tequila addressed the Illuminati – the shadowy group of power-brokers said by conspiracy theorists to secretly run the world – with the following all-cap words: "DEAR ILLUMINATI F___: I HAVE A MESSAGE FOR YOU." She went on to accuse "THE OTHERS" of being "ALIEN HYBRIDS" responsible for, among other crimes, taking "our young, beautiful boys here in AMERICA" and training them "TO BE MURDERERS TRICKING THEM INTO THINKING THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR THE GOOD OF MANKIND WHEN REALLY YOU A——S LIED TO EVERYONE!"

2. The hollow earth

In the same post, Tequila asks The Others: "SHALL I TELL THE PEOPLE ABOUT THE ENTIRE CITY INSIDE THE HOLLOW EARTH???” Not that this is where she believed the Illuminati lived. That would be the moon: "SHALL I TELL THEM THAT THE SO CALLED “MOON” IS ACTUALLY WHERE SOME OF YOU STILL RESIDE TO WATCH OVER US, AND THE MOON IS ACTUALLY YOUR BASE.”

3. The aliens coming to get her

In another Facebook post, Tequila announced that she wasn't frightened by the "greys" that had been sent in a bid to silence her: "Your FAKE MAN MADE WANNA BE “GREYS” wont do s___. But at least I am friends with REALLLLL ONES FROM THE GOOOD LIGHT WHITE SIDE. THEY ARE REAL! Give it up with your pathetic fake greys! People are becoming a lot more stronger and smarte than you realise."

4. Lady Gaga, the Satanist

Tequila attacked the Bad Romance singer in a 2010 post about the evils of the music industry: "You would be SHOCKED if I told you which celebrities has the same bloodline as the 'DEVIL'", she said. "ESPECIALLY once Lady Gaga stepped on the scene, all the music video’s has turned very DARK & SATANIC! I am not joking." She went on to accuse Beyonce, Rihanna, Christina Aguillera, and even the sainted Taylor Swift of being part of this Satanic cabal.

5. Her many deaths

She began the above post with another bombshell: "Never forget me for my love for you has always been true no matter what happens I don’t care anymore I already died 7 times. Might as well let them finish the rest im not scared anymore."

6. The Paul Walker death theory

In 2013, Tequila posted about the mysterious death of Elisa Lam, a Canadian woman who was found dead in the water tank of a Los Angeles hotel. "I believe I am the only person on this entire planet who knows what happened," she wrote. "I have just kept my mouth shut because there is a lot more to it and of course ... cases like this ... I just did not want to draw any attention to myself but I know exactly why they did it and yes it was indeed a ritualistic murder. Just like Paul Walker's." The death of Lam and the road accident that killed the Fast & Furious star were, she went on, "directly linked to my ritual murder last year".

7. Her mission from God

Neatly following on from the revelation about her resurrection, Tequila then revealed their purpose: "I for one, was sent on earth from GOD. To be one of his ANGELS to try to help this world that is half light, and half dark. There is right now a crucial War between good and bad. I am on the GOOD side, and that is why they are always trying to get me."

8. Her allegation that comedian Sarah Silverman 'killed Jesus'

In the June of 2016, Tequila launched a bizarre anti-Semitic attack on Sarah Silverman, writing that the comedian and "her people" had "killed Jesus". She followed it up with further offensive comments, aimed at Silverman, earlier this month.

9. Her "p*ssy-grabbing" comments

On November 21 this year, Tequila used her Twitter account to post a number of offensive comments in support of Donald Trump, including the post: “Women who complain about Trump saying, “Grab her by the p*ssy!” Are retards because I love getting grabbed by the p*ssy! Lmao!”
