The partner of a man who was died after a shocking raceway accident has laid bare her grief at the loss of her “babe” and “best friend”.

Writing on Facebook, Tara Lee Murphy spoke of the “devastation” that had hit her and the couple’s young children.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I announce my babe, best friend and life partner Shane Savage has passed away from his injuries which occurred in an accident on Friday evening at Powercruise Promotions,” she said.

“The devastation that has hit me, Calais, Huddy, our dogs and our whole family has been so unbearable to even come to terms with.

“The beautiful words and wishes that have been sent to me from you all has been so overwhelming and I thank each and everyone of you.

“We have set up an account for those of you whom would like to make a contribution towards his funeral arrangements to make this a little easier for us to work out life from here.”

Mr Savage, a 41-year-old Gold Coast small business man, was flung from his car at the Queensland Raceway in Ipswich when it rolled during a Powercruise amateur race.

Mr Savage spent four days in a critical condition at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital before dying on Tuesday.

Friends have replied to Tara’s post with their own tributes and condolences.

“Devastating news,” Cynthia Kenneally wrote.

Tara, some people go there whole life looking for something like you had with Shane, I’m so glad that you guys started young and could share so many good times together especially having Calais and Hudson.

I always said you were the best mum ever and even though I’d only met Shane a couple of times I knew that you were truly loved, I could see it in your beautiful smiling face.”

“One day at a time sweetie and remember we all here for you all love you,” wrote Annette Conrades.

The Forensic Crash Unit is assisting Workplace Health and Safety with investigations into the crash.

It is the second fatality on a Brisbane raceway this year, after professional drag racer Sam Fenech was killed when his car lost control and collided with a camera tower in January.

He died at the scene and two other people, including a camera operator, were seriously injured.
