- Cyntoia was 16 years old when she was arrested for killing 43-years old Johnny.

Cyntoia Brown and Jamie’s relationship
When Cyntoia was in prison, Jamie heard about her when he watched the 2011 documentary Me Facing Life: Cyntoia’s Story.
Jamie revealed,
“I felt God tell me, stop and write her,”
He added,
“I told her basically, God told me to tell you you’re getting out of prison.”
In January 2017, Jamie sent her a letter that was received by Brown. She replied to the letter as she found something special about him.
After four months Jamie traveled to Tennessee to meet Cyntoia. When he met her he felt that she was the right woman for him. He wanted to make Brown his wife.
Likewise, after two years they got engaged. Long said,
“I bought my wife’s wedding ring while she was still in prison, and we didn’t know if she was getting out,”
Even though Cyntoia did not have any hope of getting out of prison but Jamie still had faith in her. It was Long who rebuilt her faith. Brown said,
“We prayed through it, and because of him I started working on my relationship with God. And that’s when my federal appeal opened back up, which is unheard of,”
Cyntoia and Jamie’s marriage
The two got married while she was in prison. At the time, Cyntoia also released her memoir Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System in August 2019. In her memoir, she added the details of her relationship with Long.
Finally, on 7th August 2019, Brown was released from the Tennessee Prison after 15 years of incarceration. Her husband had purchased a house in Nashville for their new life.
She revealed,
“A lot of people who get out of prison struggle to find places. They worry about it. It was so good that I didn’t have to worry about it,”
She added,
“He had a house ready. I had a closet full of clothes. Thank God he’d got good taste, ’cause I don’t.”
