She spent her childhood years growing up in Cava de’ Tirreni, a city and comune in the region of Campania, Italy.

In 1979, Giuliana De Sio brought to life the character of Angelica in the comedy film Il malato immaginario (internationally released as Hypochondriac). The film is a loose adaptation of Molière’s Le Malade imaginaire set in 1600 papal Rome.

Along with Michele Placido and Fabio Traversa, Giuliana De Sio co-starred as Marta Vitale in the comedy film Sciopèn in 1982.

She appeared as Chiara in the comedy-drama film The Pool Hustlers (Italian: Io, Chiara e lo Scuro) in 1982.

She brought to life the character of Anna in the 1983 comedy film Scusate il ritardo.
