June 2024 · 2 minute read

Earlier this year, Counting On stars Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson revealed that last October they suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage. And, this past weekend, they thanked fans for all of their love and support during such a painful time.

On their joint Instagram page, Duggar and Swanson posted a pic of the piano in their home, and on top was a framed photo of the couple on their wedding day.

“I just want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, support, and for all you Mamas out there for sharing your angel baby stories,” wrote Swanson. “It’s easy to share those happy times in our lives, but sharing something hard, like losing a baby can be like putting salt to a wound.”

Swanson added that it was helpful for her – and many other women who have gone through the same tragedy – to hear fans share their stories. She also added a Bible verse and the hashtag #enjoyingsundaytogether.

Duggar, who married Swanson last June, said that it was a hard time for their family, especially since the miscarriage happened right after the couple tied the knot. He explained that their dreams of seeing and holding their baby had all been dashed before their eyes.

Swanson said that they decided to open up about their loss because it is a topic that no one really talks about, and they wanted to let others know that they weren’t alone.

According to Us Weekly, Swanson opened up even more about her heartbreak in a video she posted to YouTube earlier this month. In the clip, the 19-year-old teared up when she recalled the experience, saying that she was hoping it was a nightmare that she could wake up from.

Swanson called it the “worst day of my life,” but she insisted that she was glad they had told their families about the pregnancy because they couldn’t have gone through it without their support. She also revealed that her husband was “amazing” because he took care of her, supported her, and cried with her.

Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson made a memory box filled with letters that they had written their unborn child, the positive pregnancy test, and the one selfie Swanson took when she was pregnant.
